Canoe Season is ON: Outfitting, Laughs & Loons Included

June 13, 2025

We’ll admit it — the blog’s been quieter than a remote BWCA campsite in October. 😅

But we’re back now, covered in bug spray, coffee-fueled, and ready for the 2025 canoe season! Opening the outfitting side is always a big job, and let’s just say this year had a few extra curveballs (including a little lingering illness on my end — shout-out to anyone else operating at 75% but still out here getting it done 🙌).

Let’s Talk Trips:
The canoes are ready, the maps are dog-eared, and the sturdiest portage packs in the Northwoods are packed and waiting. Whether you’re a BWCA regular or a first-timer who still thinks portage rhymes with “mortgage,” we’ve got you covered.

What’s Hot (besides the forecast):

  • Permits – They’re going fast. We’re happy to help you navigate the rec.gov maze.

  • Gear rentals – From ultralight packs to sturdy canoes that have seen more lakes than most people.

  • Advice – We’re not just handing you a paddle; we’re setting you up for success — and maybe even a moment of peace so quiet you’ll hear your own thoughts (but in a good way).

  • Food packs – Lightweight, tasty, and no squirrels were harmed in the making (but they will try to steal it if you’re not careful).

Want a Guided Trip?
Whether you’re venturing out solo or looking for an experienced guide to lead the way, we’re here to help you feel confident and prepared. Our guides know these lakes like the back of their paddle, and we’re happy to offer trip planning help, gear recommendations, or full outfitting to match your adventure goals — from mellow basecamps to multi-day paddling epics.

A Quick Reminder:
The BWCA hasn’t changed — still peaceful, still wild, and while cell service technically exists in a few spots, the best connections still happen around the campfire.

We’ve got all the gear and experience you need to make your trip unforgettable.

So Here’s to Summer:
Let’s paddle. Let’s portage. Let’s eat too many trail mix peanuts and tell stories around the fire like the mosquitoes aren’t listening.

Thanks for sticking with us — and stay tuned for more blog posts now that we’ve got our paddles under us again.

Happy trails — we’ll see you on the water.
