Ely is the hub of the Boundary Waters, as a result BWCA Canoe Trip Outfitters in Ely are numerous. However, Moose Track Adventures can confidently say that our Boundary Waters Outfitting Services operate on an entirely different level. These are the stomping grounds of Jim, one of the owners and operators of Moose Track Adventures. He has over 10 years of experience as a guide. This, along with his own canoeing passion and Boundary Waters and Quetico Park exploring allows Moose Track Adventures to operate on a level far above the rest.

Moose Track Adventures is cooperator #98. This means all you need to do is make a reservation. We can get your necessary permits. There is no need to stop anywhere to pick up your Boundary Waters Permits. We can obtain BWCA permits for you and print them out right at our lodge. This takes any hassle out of the process, allowing you to focus on the adventure ahead. If you would rather complete the process yourself, just remember permits are limited and are first come, first serve. What a fantastic guided trip we had with Moose Track! Our guide was knowledgeable (the Boundary Waters are quite literally his backyard), and he was able to tailor our trip on the fly when our circumstances changed. Every need we had was anticipated and met (the all-inclusive gear was clean, in great condition, and top-notch, and Jim met us with cold drinks and lunch to drive us back to our very welcome exit shower), and we were comfortable throughout. I cannot more highly recommend Moose Track Adventures. From the planning with Joan’s excellent communication through the spectacular trip with our guide to our final wave good-bye, we knew that we were in expert, kind hands. They’re the best! My wife and I booked a guided canoe trip in the Boundary Waters, staying 4 nights and 5 days. We had a most excellent trip, the gear was great, our guide unerringly led us through half a dozen lakes and several rivers, cooked our meals, and was very friendly and helpful. We fished one of the days, and caught several fish which we fried up for dinner (delicious!). The owners, Joan and Jim, were very helpful in planning the trip (where to start, what to see, how long, etc.), and were very responsive in answering questions before the trip happened. The planned trip was a perfect length, three or four hours of easy paddling each day, easily within our capabilities as novice canoers.

Excellent with full outfitting for a 7 day adventure. We had everything that we needed and a few thing that were invaluable that we didn’t know we needed. Food was excellent and managed to keep 4 teenagers and 2 old men satisfied for the full trip. Jim and Joan were fantastic to work with on all aspects of planning and prepping for our trip and made the whole experience a memory of a lifetime. Already looking to plan for next year.

Top-notch service, high quality camping/fishing equipment, great food, and beautiful scenery during the day and night made this a vacation I would highly recommend. Can’t say enough good things about our guides as they were authentic, diligent, and eager to share their knowledge on all things BWCA and their fishing expertise. Although Mother Nature wasn’t the kindest to us during the majority of our trip, we still had a blast and will never forget our trip up north.
